Merida and Her Mom - From the Movie, BRAVE - Review

The new Disney Pixar movie BRAVE is not only delightful but, surprisingly, it centers on the mother-daughter relationship!  Normally in these types of "princess" movies the mother is usually long dead and has possibly been replaced by an evil stepmother, i.e. Cinderella, Tangled, Little Mermaid, Snow White; but in this movie, not only is the mother alive, she is a central character.

And not only that, but our lovely, feisty, curly red-haired princess ends up not on an adventure with a young prince but with her mom!  They have a normal, bumpy mother-teenage daughter relationship and at one point they both even exclaim, "You're not listening to me!"

Mind you I'm a big "princess-falling-in-love-with-a-prince" movie fan but this was wonderfully refreshing and fun!  And while I am a long way from being a teenager, my mother and I went to see the movie together and I must say we both loved it.
Two thumbs up from my mom and me!
